“The God Who Wasn’t There” movie review

Recently I viewed the movie  “The God who wasn’t There” on Netflix.

The video starts by saying Christianity was wrong about the solar system and the sun revolving around the earth, so it’s wrong about everything else and points to Charles Manson as a Christian.  People who don’t follow Christ are not Christian, you can learn more about that watching Ray Comfort’s free movie Genius about John Lennon and the man who murdered him who claimed he was a Christian (click here to watch).

It is a genetic fallacy to judge God and the bible by what some of “so-called” followers have done, in the same way it would be wrong to judge a person for some mistakes the black sheep in that person’s family made.

The documentary claims that all the gospels were derived from Mark: ignoring the list of biblical scholars that would disagree with this  unsubstantiated claim.  It claims the gospel of Mark was written after the destruction of the temple in AD 70.   However, there is no specific mention of the destruction of the temple in any of the gospels or epistles.  Many biblical scholars date the entire New Testament before AD 70 because the destruction of the temple was such a huge historical event, and the New Testament makes no  mention of it.

Brian Flemming, the documentary maker, claims Paul did not even believe Jesus was on earth, he twisted Hebrews 8:4 to fit his view.   The context of the verse is about the Levitical priesthood which Jesus was not a part of because he was from the tribe of Judah, so if He would have been on earth “now” Paul was saying He would not be a priest.  There was something new and better than the Levitical priest system that had many men that were failures and  it was pointing to the High Priest who is Jesus Christ who was and is perfect. Yet, Brian Flemming tries to claim Paul was saying that Jesus had not been on earth, and that is why he could not have been the priest.  This is easily refuted just reading the epistles that Paul wrote.

Paul believed in a real Jesus, a real resurrection, and mentions this all over the epistles.  He even said that is where the Christian faith stands or falls  (1 Corinthians 15:12-20 ). Trying to compare Jesus to fictional characters like Horus, fails to account for real eye witnesses like 11 out of the 12 disciples who followed Jesus to death.   The disciples were beaten and killed speaking of the truth they saw.  They were not given fame or wealth; they were imprisoned and killed speaking of the risen savior.

He interviews Sam Harris who compares Zeus to God which is a category mistake.  God is uncreated, Zeus came from his parents and there is an infinite regress with Zeus who’s parents came from somewhere.  It is idolatry to create a god in our minds and Zeus was created in the imaginations of men.   The Uncreated, Creator God is eternal there is no eternal regress with Him. He transcends time, matter, and space and created them all.  In the begining (time), God created (matter) the heavens and the earth (space). (Gen 1:1)

Brain Flemming the documentary maker, apparently was raised in a Christian home and went to a Christian school.  He goes to the Christian school he once attended and spoke with the principal.  The principal failed in the interview to point to Brain’s faith that life can come from non life, and that nothing created everything.  He  looked pretty weak in the interview although,  he did rightly point to the circumstantial evidence of Jesus Christ’s resurrection.  He failed to point to creation and  the conscience as evidence of God though which is what the bible points to and is irrefutable.  It was obvious that he was not use to being called onto the carpet and Brian took him to the woodshed.

Unfortunately, churches are full of people who don’t evangelize so they don’t know how to speak with non Christians and answer real life objections, including the Christian leaders which this film made clearly obvious.   Many Christians think the pastors should be doing the work of evangelizing so they try to bring people to Church and the pastor think their job is to equip the church to evangelize.  This is not the biblical model and most of the time  the ball is dropped and the real work of evangelizing the lost doesn’t get done and people really are not any good at it, like the principal in the movie.  He is in his safe comfortable “monastery” building surrounded by other Christians.

The gospel is almost entirely forgetting, because people think you can share the gospel without words.   A lot of “cultural Christians”  think they can give a homeless person a sandwich and a blanket and that is evangelism.  It is not evangelism or sharing the gospel if a Muslim, Athiest, or Buddhist can do it.  Handing out a sandwich and blanket without sharing the gospel is just making a person’s life a little more comfortable on their road to hell.  Would the prodigal son ever came home to his father is someone just gave him a blanket and a sandwich?  The social gospel is not the gospel it is a counterfeit.  Give the poor and needy a sandwich and a blanket, but give them the gospel as well or find somebody who will, but don’t neglect it, it is the only true hope there is.

The movie ends dramatically with Brian going into the chapel he “ask Jesus into his heart in”  and he denies the Holy Spirit, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin, so he is basically saying I don’t care if I go to hell.  Fear of God is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom and by the fear of God people depart evil (Proverbs 1:7, 9:10, Proverbs 16:6)  Brian does not fear God and as a result he is an ignorant, wicked, fool and it is obvious.  His belief will not change reality, that God exist because truth does not bend to our beliefs.  If something is true, are belief and whether we like it or not has no bearing on that truth.

Brain, was never a Christian and he was never born again.   Those who are saved, persevere to the end; those who walk away were never part of the flock to began with(1 John 2:19).  He was a false convert, and if he repents and puts His faith in Christ alone he can be saved.  Hopefully, God does not give him what he currently wants. Even though this movie ends on this sad there is a glory story in it, one of the atheists that was in the documentary converted to Christianity and is now following Christ you can read about it here.

The Way (s) of the Master Critique of the Critique

Recently at the Shepherd Conference a lecture called “Way (s) of the Master” was given by  Pastor Jesse Johnson.  You can listen to it here.  The lecture started off fine talking about different methods in evangelism; hence the “way(s)” of the Master.  Then it started getting off tract with a critique of the Way of the Master  evangelism method.   Basically, the premise seemed to be the 10 commandments are not relevant for gentiles and are not a good way to evangelize.     Curious about who this guy was giving the leture I looked him up on facebook and one of the comments on Pastor Jesse Johnson wall after posting the link to Way(s) of the Master read.

“The problem is that now I cannot do the way of the master approach, after listening to your lecture. Now back to square one .”

I was horrified, but not surprised because his message basically was that using the 10 commandments in evangelism was wrong.   Just speculating that “square one” is back to NOT evangelizing like many were doing before learning WOTM. That is the issue I have with Jesse.

The question remains is WOTM biblical? I would argue it is bibical because it is based on law and grace. When you get rid of either your off into either legalism or antinomianism (worldliness).

The 10 commandments are a practical way for showing people their sin like Jesus did, with the young rich ruler (Luke 18) and the woman at the well (John 4). After listening to the critique by Jesse it may have left you with more questions than answers on how to evangelize.  Hopefully,  this will clear things up.  What is the biblical definition of sin, what is sin?

Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. (1 John 3:4)

For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression.
(Romans 4:15)
So breaking God’s law is sin “sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4) and “where there is no law there is no transgression (sin) (Romans 4:15) So what law is this talking about?  The Apostle Paul  answers this  a few chapters later “What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” (Romans 7:7 ESV)

What law is “You shall not covet”? It’s the 10th commandment (Exodus 20:17).
Paul is referring to the 10 commandments in Romans 7:7, which tie in with 1 John 3:4, and Romans 4:15.  Okay not convinced?

Earlier in Romans we read “we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin (Romans 3:19-20) this is also referring to the 10 commandments go back to Romans 7:7 if you forgot how Paul knew what sin was, and in Romans 3:20 He says “through the law comes knowledge of sin.”

So who is this verse written to, followers of Christ in Rome yes, but more specifically the verse has some key words to help us figure it out it says “every mouth” and “the whole world may be held accountable to God” (Romans 3:19) Not sure how Paul could of been any clearer.   Everyone is under the law in the respect that we have all violated it although we know that those in Christ are no longer under it as being crushed by it, because Christ was crushed for us. The law is what  brings people to the cross, that is its intention.

The law was our school master to bring us to Christ (Galations 3:24)  Jesus said “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (Matthew 5:17 )

Paul explains at the end of Roman chapter 3 we are to uphold the law as believers.

Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since God is one—who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law. (Romans 3:29-31 ESV)
We can concluded that the law mentioned in Romans chapters 3,4, 7 and 1 John 3, and Galatians 3 are in fact referring to the 10 commandments.

We wouldn’t conclude differently unless some really smart guy stood up on the pulpit and told us differently and we believed him, but if we let the scripture interpret scripture we see that Paul used the 10 commandments to bring about knowledge of sin, and he didn’t preach antinomialism that we could just ignore them when we are saved.

Jesus  summed up the entire bible (“Law and the Prophets) in two commandments.  ”

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40.

Way of the Master is biblical in summing up what this means in practical terms “Loving God with all your heart, soul, and mind, by using the 10 commandments just like Paul to bring about knowledge of sin; and by loving others enough to share the truth with them that they need a savior.

When Worldviews Collide: Applying a Christian Worldview to Ethical Issues

The question is thrown out should prostitution be legal?  Opinions vary greatly like extreme degrees on a thermometer some are hot, some are cold.  One side feels that legalizing it would benefits society because of revenue from taxes, it would create jobs, and they appeal to countries where it is legalized as their evidence.  Others feel differently and see it as moral decay for society not beneficial at all. What should the Christian worldview be for questions like these? How should a Christian respond to these ethical, and moral issues?

First, a Christian should understand that there are some basic philosophical questions that most everyone in the world wonders about and these form our worldview, (how we view the world). The questions are

Where did we come from?
Why are we here?
Is there a God?
If there is a God, what does he want?
What happens to us after we die?
Did we evolve or were we created?
Is morality absolute or subjective?

The moral/ethical questions like “should prostitution be legal”, are answered by an individual depending on their philosophical worldview.   It is not based on the evidence because two people can look at the same evidence and come to different conclusions.  Moral and ethical issues are based on worldviews.

A Christian’s worldview is based on the premise that God created humans in His image (Gen1:26-27).  Humans are different than the animals. We build cities; write books, and send people to the moon.  God’s morality and standards are absolute and based on His character which is unchanging, unlike societies morality which is based on majority vote and leaders making choices.

A Christian’s worldview is based on God who is faithful, good, kind, loving, merciful, just, and patient. These are some of his character traits and because we are created in His image we are to reflect His traits.  Like the moon reflects the sun and controls the tides of the ocean; Christians are to reflect the Son of God.  We are called to be the salt and light of the earth (Matt 5:13-14).   Salt preserves rottenness, and the light is not from us but from the light of the world, Jesus Christ (John 8:12).   The Prostitution industry is completely contrary to God’s image.  Prostitution is faithless, unloving, unkind, and opposed to how God intended us to live and glorify Him as image bearers of Him.

Those who argue that prostitution should be legal, should ask themselves honestly if they would want their children, parents, etc to go into that business.  If nothing is wrong with it their God given instincts to protect their families should be okay with it.   The heart is wicked above all things (Jeremiah 17:9) and the heart maybe trying to argue for the benefits of it, yet the mind and God given conscience are opposed to it.

The claim legalizing prostitution provide the best result for all begs the question if morality is subjective or objective.  If morality is subjective whatever benefits society as a whole is fair game. This sort of worldview can justify anything that can benefit the majority of a specific culture even if it’s genocide, or eugenics.  If morality is subjective there would be no moral absolutes; each situation could be different so you can’t say something is absolutely wrong.

The Christian worldview can tell you why raping children for fun is wrong, in every situation because the Christian worldview is based on absolute morality, which is objective. Subjective morality can not say raping children for fun is absolutely wrong because it would contradict the belief in subjective morality.

Pop culture teaches subjective morality and all beliefs are relative, yet this view excludes any view that is exclusive, therefore, it is also exclusive. It excludes any view that holds to a truth statement like all views are relative (which is a truth claim). Everyone holds to certain beliefs yet some beliefs are self contradictory and do not line up with reality.   For example the belief that claims there are no obsoletes; if true would make that claim false, it is a self defeating argument just like all beliefs are relative.

Truth is not a preference like what is the best ice cream.  It is independent of our beliefs.  In mathematics for example 2+2 equals four, there is only one right answer to what 2+2 equals.   You can believe it equals something else but you would be wrong. The truth to the answer is exclusive and excludes all wrong answers.

Jesus Christ is exclusive, “I am the way the truth, and the life no man comes to the Father except through me.(John 14:6)”  To claim you are a Christian yet hold to the belief that all beliefs are relative is by default calling Jesus Christ a liar, by not believing what He said.

Jesus said there were two paths a narrow one that leads to life, and a wide one that leads to destruction (Matthew7:13-14) He is the only road into heaven; remember in John 14:6 “He is the way”.   Jesus also said in Matthew 7:21-27 that a profession that you are a Christian does not make it so.  If you claim to be a Christian but ignore the exclusitivity of Christ hanging onto relativism that all worldviews are equal and morality is subjective you are saying Jesus was wrong or God could not preserve his message for humanity and either way He would not be God if that was true, because God cannot lie and is not thwarted by people. James2:19says even the demons believe in Jesus.  Saving faith is more than a mental affirmation, it is evident by a heart of submission to Him, believing His teachings, and is evident by how we view the world.

Abortion the Modern Day Holocaust

Pretend I'm a tree and save me

A new movie about abortion  is sweeping the internet. The arguments against abortion are so strong that people are literally doing a “180” turn around on their views of abortion in just a few minutes. The name of the movie? Well of course it is “180”, you can view it at 180movie.com Amazingly, the video already has more than 1.5 million views in less than two months. More amazing is it’s 33 minutes long; I have to admit that I don’t watch too many video’s on you-tube over about 10 minutes let alone 33 minutes, but I watched the 180 movie twice, it was fascinating.

The video interviews many different people, which really makes it interesting. Live interviews are seen and many do not even know who Adolf Hitler was. This is very disturbing to think in less than a century the atrocities committed by the Nazi ideology in Germany are already being forgotten. The movie compares abortion to the holocaust where Nazi Germany systematically murdered over 6 million Jews. People who are pro-choice  are up in arms about this, but you can’t argue with the truth and you see this while one person after another that is being interviewed changes their view on abortion.

No doubt this video is drawing a lot of attention from the pro-life  movement and is going to be used for the future ballot bills that are trying to rid the world from this modern day holocaust.

Is it okay for me to have a beer with my friends so I can evangelize?

Before I was converted to Christianity and I was on the fence still serving two masters, although still going to church to keep up appearances; I remember justifying drinking to evangelize.  Alcohol took away inhibitions and I would talk about Christianity when drunk.  In my twisted thinking I sometimes looked at this as sort of thing as evangelizing. Remember .08 is legally under the “influence” and my friends you are not under the influence of the Holy Spirit when you reach that point although you might feel you are.  Drinking was mood altering; it was fun, like all sin.  Let’s face it sin is fun.  That is why we sin, because we like it, in fact we love it.  We love it more than Christ that’s the problem.

Jesus said if you love me you’ll keep my commandments (John 14:15).  The proof of our love for Christ is not our church attendance.  It’s not our commentary in public like saying “Praise God”, or “I’m blessed.”  Those are words that believers might say, but our evidence for loving Christ is our obedience to Him, the bible compares it to a marriage relationship.  A spouse cheating on their partner regardless of emotional or physical infidelity shows their heart condition.

If one was to contrast the fruits of the Spirit with the fruits of the flesh in Galatians chapter 5.  One would notice that drunkenness is not a fruit of the Spirit.  It is a fruit of the flesh and many fruits of the flesh are caused by drunkenness.  Galatians 5:19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

When I came under the conviction of the Holy Spirit of my sin and I repented by confessing and apologizing for all of my sins.  I asked Jesus to help me do something I couldn’t do.  It was to live for Him.  I knew I deserved hell, it was only through His grace that I could enter heaven not because I was owed it by my prayer, or sorrow.  I prayed, “Jesus if you will help me live for you I will for the rest of my life, but it’s obvious I can’t without you helping me.”   That was a turning point for me.  I never desired to get drunk again.  I never trusted my heart and feelings again which had led me astray for years; I trusted Him and His Word.  I had no more desire for worldly fun, I lived a lifetime of worldly fun.  I had a desire for holiness, a desire to live a holy life that is pleasing to the One who gave me His life.  When a criminal is taken off death row by someone who paid their fine, gratitude to that person and wanting to give them your life is a proper response.  That was my response to the Lord Jesus Christ.  I owed him my life and out of gratitude for what He did for me I wanted to live for Him.

When I hear people say they have a beer to evangelize, I hear someone who doesn’t understand the truth of salvation.  I hear someone say, “what Jesus did on the cross isn’t enough; I have to make it attractive by showing Christians can be like the world.”  What opened my eyes was Christ, not a packaged wrapped presentation that was just like every other marketing scheme promising joy. It was His love for me displayed on the cross in contrast to my sinfulness and unworthiness of that grace.  Jesus said, “when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” John 12:32.  Show people Jesus on that cross dying for them for their sins.  That is how Jesus draws them to Himself.  Don’t show them how cool you are because you can drink a beer with them and think you’re evangelizing.   That is nothing more than complete ignorance to what draws people to Christ.  It’s a man centered gospel instead of a Christ centered one.

Here is a great video answering the question.

Wake Up Call

Revelation 3:16,17 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.  Lukewarm is bad, real bad!

God doesn’t want our sacrifice He wants our obedience 1Samuel 15:22So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord?Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

There are two side of God, He is loving and merciful, but he is also just and holy.  He can’t stand sin he abhor it!  So here is the wake up call, God offers you mercy and forgiveness on the grounds of repentance.  Don’t fool yourself into thinking your can drink and have sex out of marriage and live like the world and be saved.  Don’t pretend that because everybody else is doing it God is going to overlook it in your life.  Don’t pretend that it’s no big deal to break God’s law the 10 commandments.

Jesus said in Luke 13:3  I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.  See God’s Word makes it really plain and simple, but we love to justify and rationalize our sin human nature is a sinful nature. Here’s another example of how plain the bible is in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 the Word of God spells it out very clear it doesn’t get any clearer when it warns do not be deceived (implying people are deceived) the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of heaven and then it list the sins that Christians that fill the churches are committing.

I’m not speaking to the person who is agnostic and doesn’t really know if there is a God. I’m not speaking to the atheist who doesn’t believe there is a God.  I’m speaking to the Christians who goes to church on Sunday and sins their hearts out the rest of the week or to the Christian who thinks because they said a prayer when they are little they have fire insurance and haven’t been to church in years, yet think they are saved.

I’m speaking to those people that I use to be like the drunkard, adulterers, the fornicators, the prodigal sons and daughters of this world who know about God and they took that blessing of God’s love and mercy with them, but they’re eating pig food which are the things of this world and they have been ignoring God’s calling and invite back home. Remember the prodigal son had to leave the pig pen.

Maybe there won’t be a tomorrow think about 911 for a moment how many of those people had planed on that being their last day?  Probably not any went to work thinking that. Their calendars were filled with the plans of tomorrows, my friend whoever you are that is reading this I beg you not to wait and put off God’s kindness and offer of salvation.

God grants repentance! It’s not like we just decide to repent and it’s our decision, God grants us repentance, he gives us the desire to turn to Him.  He may give you that desire to repent only one more time in your life. The Holy Spirit might be ministering to you right now don’t ignore it.

The enemy (Satan) wants you to put it off and he wants to distract you from thinking about eternity don’t put it off again, this may be it for you.   We’re not promised tomorrow. You were bought with a price, the road to heaven was paved by the blood of Jesus.  Don’t ignore a gift that was paid for by His precious life,  what an insult to His suffering,  an insult to the price that was paid for you, to ignore it.

How special you are that the King of kings suffered and was put to death for you.  God’s offering of mercy and grace.  Yet,  if you ignore the gift that was paid for you on your behalf  you won’t experience God’s love you will be crushed by God’s justice.  Don’t reject His gift accept it and live.  Listen to God’s Word.  ” if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die. None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against him. Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live. Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? Ezekiel 3:21-23.

God does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked.  He wants people to turn away from what separates them from Him, sin and turn to Him.

We are all criminals guilty of breaking God’s laws and we all are on death row.  Jesus paid our fine and offers us forgiveness, but there has to be repentance the judge isn’t letting you off the hook unless the penalty or fine is paid.

If you’re not sorry and if he knows your going to continue breaking the law without remorse is the ransom going to be paid for you?  Would you go bail somebody out of jail if they aren’t  sorry and you know they’re going to continue doing the same things?   Throw yourself at the foot of the cross so you’re not condemned and then go and sin no more.

John 8:10-12  When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? [49] Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

What does the Holy Spirit mean in Hebrews 12:14 where it is written, “Pursue holiness . . without which no one will see the Lord”?  Many Christians do not seem to understand what this means, since they spend no time in pursuing holiness. So I want to explain clearly and plainly what it means. It means this: Without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Your level of holiness is determined by what enters your mind and heart – and that is much determined by what you see and hear.  Live in the Word and the Spirit, and you become holy – live in the world and its ways, and you become worldly.  Even within Christianity, the level of your holiness is determined by what you see and hear – and will never rise above the holiness of what you see and hear.

Flu Shot Christianity…are you following traditions or God

“Say this prayer and you will be saved” ever heard that before? How about “You better get some fire insurance ask Jesus into your heart” or “if you EVER asked Jesus into your heart you are saved don’t let anyone tell you, your not.”

What do all the following statements have in common? They are all unbiblical, we don’t give people assurance of salvation were not that powerful the Holy Spirit does.

Okay, now I will admit some people are and will be saved after they said the sinner’s prayer, but it isn’t “the sinners prayer” that saves them. They are saved because they have Godly sorrow that produces repentance and leads to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10) and they truly put their faith in Christ.

But to tell people getting into heaven is easy is just a flat out lie one of the hardest things to do is surrender and submit ourselves to someone else’s authority. In Matthew 13:18-30 Jesus teaches us in the parable of the seed sower their will be 4 responses to the gospel.

First the enemy just blind the minds and the person doesn’t give it any thought the seed is just snatched up, the next response is people receive the news with joy, by the outward appearance you would think they are saved, but like a plant who’s roots go into bed rock when the heat of trials come the plant withers and dies. Who do you run to when things get really hard, do you press deeper into God or do you run to alcohol, drugs or even self and turn from God?. The next response to the gospel is they also receive the news and appear to be growing for awhile but then the money and love of this world overtakes them (James 4:4) like thorns and thistles’ overtaking a plant and the last reponse is a good soil hearer who receives the news and obeys his roots go deep into God.

Jesus never said getting to heaven was easy, but in Christianity today we sure do. Are we going to continue following modern Christian traditions that are false or are we going to follow God and His truth found in the scripture. It’s not a flu shot the narrow road is difficult that leads to life and few will find it (Matthew 7:13) We love to tell people about the narrow gate Jesus but then try to ignore the narrow path. Quit comparing yourself to other Christians who compare themselves to other Christians examine yourself and see if your in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5) Jesus tells people to count the cost it is going to cost you something to be His follower are you ready? If your not don’t fool yourself, He knows your not your not fooling Him go to Him in prayer and work it out with Him.

And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it– lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’  Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:27-33
