Wake Up Call

Revelation 3:16,17 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.  Lukewarm is bad, real bad!

God doesn’t want our sacrifice He wants our obedience 1Samuel 15:22So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord?Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

There are two side of God, He is loving and merciful, but he is also just and holy.  He can’t stand sin he abhor it!  So here is the wake up call, God offers you mercy and forgiveness on the grounds of repentance.  Don’t fool yourself into thinking your can drink and have sex out of marriage and live like the world and be saved.  Don’t pretend that because everybody else is doing it God is going to overlook it in your life.  Don’t pretend that it’s no big deal to break God’s law the 10 commandments.

Jesus said in Luke 13:3  I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.  See God’s Word makes it really plain and simple, but we love to justify and rationalize our sin human nature is a sinful nature. Here’s another example of how plain the bible is in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 the Word of God spells it out very clear it doesn’t get any clearer when it warns do not be deceived (implying people are deceived) the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of heaven and then it list the sins that Christians that fill the churches are committing.

I’m not speaking to the person who is agnostic and doesn’t really know if there is a God. I’m not speaking to the atheist who doesn’t believe there is a God.  I’m speaking to the Christians who goes to church on Sunday and sins their hearts out the rest of the week or to the Christian who thinks because they said a prayer when they are little they have fire insurance and haven’t been to church in years, yet think they are saved.

I’m speaking to those people that I use to be like the drunkard, adulterers, the fornicators, the prodigal sons and daughters of this world who know about God and they took that blessing of God’s love and mercy with them, but they’re eating pig food which are the things of this world and they have been ignoring God’s calling and invite back home. Remember the prodigal son had to leave the pig pen.

Maybe there won’t be a tomorrow think about 911 for a moment how many of those people had planed on that being their last day?  Probably not any went to work thinking that. Their calendars were filled with the plans of tomorrows, my friend whoever you are that is reading this I beg you not to wait and put off God’s kindness and offer of salvation.

God grants repentance! It’s not like we just decide to repent and it’s our decision, God grants us repentance, he gives us the desire to turn to Him.  He may give you that desire to repent only one more time in your life. The Holy Spirit might be ministering to you right now don’t ignore it.

The enemy (Satan) wants you to put it off and he wants to distract you from thinking about eternity don’t put it off again, this may be it for you.   We’re not promised tomorrow. You were bought with a price, the road to heaven was paved by the blood of Jesus.  Don’t ignore a gift that was paid for by His precious life,  what an insult to His suffering,  an insult to the price that was paid for you, to ignore it.

How special you are that the King of kings suffered and was put to death for you.  God’s offering of mercy and grace.  Yet,  if you ignore the gift that was paid for you on your behalf  you won’t experience God’s love you will be crushed by God’s justice.  Don’t reject His gift accept it and live.  Listen to God’s Word.  ” if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; he will not die. None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against him. Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live. Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? Ezekiel 3:21-23.

God does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked.  He wants people to turn away from what separates them from Him, sin and turn to Him.

We are all criminals guilty of breaking God’s laws and we all are on death row.  Jesus paid our fine and offers us forgiveness, but there has to be repentance the judge isn’t letting you off the hook unless the penalty or fine is paid.

If you’re not sorry and if he knows your going to continue breaking the law without remorse is the ransom going to be paid for you?  Would you go bail somebody out of jail if they aren’t  sorry and you know they’re going to continue doing the same things?   Throw yourself at the foot of the cross so you’re not condemned and then go and sin no more.

John 8:10-12  When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? [49] Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

What does the Holy Spirit mean in Hebrews 12:14 where it is written, “Pursue holiness . . without which no one will see the Lord”?  Many Christians do not seem to understand what this means, since they spend no time in pursuing holiness. So I want to explain clearly and plainly what it means. It means this: Without holiness no one will see the Lord.

Your level of holiness is determined by what enters your mind and heart – and that is much determined by what you see and hear.  Live in the Word and the Spirit, and you become holy – live in the world and its ways, and you become worldly.  Even within Christianity, the level of your holiness is determined by what you see and hear – and will never rise above the holiness of what you see and hear.

  1. That verse is from King James Bible translation so…
Let look at the other bible translations and verses.
    1)
    Revelation 3:16-17 (Common English Bible)

16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I’m about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 After all, you say, ‘I’m rich, and I’ve grown wealthy, and I don’t need a thing.’ You don’t realize that you are miserable, pathetic, poor, blind, and naked.

Common English bible translate “I am ABOUT” which mean I feel like it but I won’t .
Why ? let look at the next verse below….

    2) Matt 10: 23 32 “Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before people, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven. Common English bible

So here on earth I do acknowledges that “Jesus is God” who died for my sin.

    3) 2 Corinthians 5:21 Common English bible
21 God caused the one who didn’t know sin to be sin for our sake so that through him we could become the righteousness of God.
    however
    NIV translation is
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

So in Jesus I become righteousness of God which takes away ALL my sins.

    1 Corinthians 6:9
Have you not knowledge that evil-doers will have no part in the kingdom of God? Have no false ideas about this: no one who goes after the desires of the flesh, or gives worship to images, or is untrue when married, or is less than a man, or makes a wrong use of men,
    (niv)
    New International Version (©1984)
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

So, evil doer who do not have CHRIST in them will have no part in the kingdom of God.. But those who have Christ in him will enter the kingdom of God based on the verses 2 Corinthians 5:21 and Matt 10: 23 32

    Hebrews 12:14 (Common English Bible)

14 Pursue the goal of peace along with everyone—and holiness as well, because no one will see the Lord without it.

Bible in Basic English Hebrew 10:10
By that pleasure we have been made holy, by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for ever.

According to this verse, Once we have been holy, we will ALWAYS be holy and righteous of God.

    also
mean let other people see the holy in you as
Matthew 5:16 Bible in Basic English
Even so let your light be shining before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

So, if I sell fruits and it is not good then people will NOT buy from me. So fruits have to be good and people will buy them from me.
So in the same way one of our jobs is to “sell ” Christ to others. If they don’t see Christ in us. How can they accept (buy) Jesus as their Savior ?

Wow Great bible study my Brother! This is not to attack you or anything but always check the bible translations. I know I will enter the KINGDOM of God tomorrow morning even if I sin tonight.

    AMEN !

  2. scotbrandon says:

As for your first point. I would suggest you error with caution when it comes to eternity. I’m about to eat means I’m getting ready to, not that I won’t. I’m about to throw up means the same thing. Let’s not presume on that one.

In the context Revelation 3:16 is speaking to

    The Laodicea church/individuals 3:14-22.
Christ rebukes them for being “spiritually blind, bankrupt, naked, lukewarm.”
Their solution, that Christ gives them is right in the text “buy gold, white garments, and salve from Christ; be zealous and repent”
Their consequence for disobedience: “will be spit out of Christ’s mouth”
The promise to those who conquer: will dine with Christ; will be granted to sit with Christ on his throne.

If we aknoweledge Jesus as God but live, look, and smell just like the world we have twisted that scripture (Matt 10:23-32) Remember is says in James even the Demons believe in Jesus and they have the good sense to tremble at his name. It is a fool, who lives in sin without reverence for God. Proverbs says fear of the Lord is beginning of wisdom.

Now I know that’s not what you’re saying. You’re balancing out the justice of God with His grace.

Yet, remember there are two lessons from the cross and we must acknowledge both.

    1) God hates sin-He hates it so much He can’t have it in His presence and the only way that sinful man can be allowed in His presence is because of Christ sacrifice. He poured out His wrath on His One and only Son. The soul that sins shall die, without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sin. So let’s not take this first lesson lightly. If we do, the second lesson of the cross really isn’t that amazing because we truly don’t understand it.
    2) God loves us. He loves so much He was willing to send Jesus to die for us and give us mercy (doesn’t give us what we deserve) and grace (gives us what we don’t’ deserve) because of Christ finished work on the cross..
